About Jackie

Picture
_I have been interested in art and drawing since I was very young. I used to love to watch my mom draw and letter. Her talent has always been inspiration to me and provided me with my first education in art. I drew my first portrait as a gift for my grandmother in 1984, but it wasn't until 2000 that I drew my first commissioned portrait.

I use graphite and charcoal pencils to explore the endless shades of gray. I love the classic feel of people and animals in black and white, because I feel it strips away everything but the soul of my subject. Capturing the eyes is my focus, because there you can see the essence of the person or pet.

My second art form is creating hand-painted ceramic tile mirrors. This is my outlet for fun, functional art. I mostly enjoy doing commissioned pieces because I know I'm creating a piece that fills a specific need for someone.

Lastly, I have created some wall murals and graphic logos, which I have included on the site for you to check out.  This is a newer art form for me that I am finding is quickly becoming my favorite!

I live on the Outer Banks of North Carolina with my husband, Jay, and daughter, Katie. Our favorite past-times are laughing, playing, kayaking, hiking, crafts, storytime, and going to the beach.

Thank you for taking time to look at my site. I would love to hear any comments, critiques, or questions you may have, so please drop me an email or sign my guestbook.
